At around three months before the start of drink technology India (dti), the event is attracting strong interest from exhibitors. Over 90 percent of the available exhibition space is booked. Which means the event is approaching full capacity. Among the companies that have signed up to exhibit are leading names in the sector, for example, ACE Technologies, Anton Paar, Chemco Group, Krome Dispense, Repute Engineers, R J Brewing and The Brewmaster.

Chinaplas 2017 was successfully concluded on 19 May, 2017. The 4-day show accommodated some 3,400+ exhibitors from 38 countries and regions to showcase 3,800+ machinery, and attracted 155,258 local and international trade visitors from 154 countries and regions.

Japan's largest beverage B-to-B show, covering the whole process of beverage and liquid food development/manufacturing, will take place at “Tokyo Big Sight” in Tokyo from June 28-30, 2017. The organisers are expecting 1,860 exhibitors and 63,000 visitors this year.

drink technology India, the trade fair for the beverage, dairy and liquid-food industry in India, is switching to an annual format and will be held at various locations in the future - every two years in Mumbai, and alternating between New Delhi and Bangalore in the years in between. The objective of these regional spin-offs is to address the beverage, dairy, liquid-food sectors and their respective packaging industries in a more demand-oriented manner.

The international event for the packaging industry and related processing industries interpack looks back to a successful 2017 event. 2,865 exhibiting companies were visited by 170,500 visitors, 74% travelled to Düsseldorf from abroad.

Following a global launch at Interpack 2017, Gebo Cermex’ CareSelect bottle infeed system has won the ‘Modular Machines’ category of the ‘Best Future Machine Award’ sponsored by Rockwell Automation. CareSelect is a patented universal and modular shaped-bottle infeed and collating system for robotic or traditional case packers, powered by Rockwell Automation’s iTRAK technology.

Chinaplas 2017 will be held in China Import & Export Fair Complex, Pazhou, Guangzhou, PR China on May 16-19, 2017. It will feature “intelligent manufacturing, high-tech materials and green solutions” with advanced plastics machinery, materials and technologies all found in a 250,000m2 exhibition area from over 3,300 renowned suppliers.

Interpack 2017 is recording the highest demand among exhibitors in its history of over 55 years. By the official closing date of this international event for the packaging industry and related processing industries, exhibitors had booked about 20% more space than was available at the exhibition centre with its 262,400m2 in 19 halls.

Gerben-Jan Gerbrandy, MEP and committee member for the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety will officially open the Plastics Recycling Show Europe (PRS) exhibition and conference taking place at the RAI Amsterdam on Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 March. The free-to-attend event is the first to bring together businesses and organisations from across Europe’s plastics recycling sector.

Plastic Technologies, Inc. (PTI) is partnering with the global learning platform for packaging professionals “The Packaging School”, Clemson University, to help packaging and plastics professionals enhance their PET knowledge via an online educational platform.

This yearly event of plastics recyclers gathers around 200 attendees from across the whole plastics value chain including: recyclers, collectors, sorting companies, converters, raw material producers, brand owners as well as academics and decision makers.

On February 1, 160 delegates from the entire PET value chain from Europe and beyond convened in Brussels for the annual Petcore Europe Conference 2017.

February 27, 2017 | Chinaplas 2018 on the move

After year-long evaluation and analysis, Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd. has decided that Chinaplas 2018 will move to a new venue – the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Hongqiao district, Shanghai. Chinaplas 2018 is confirmed to take place at NECC from April 24-27.

February 21, 2017 | NPE 2018 Bottle Zone

The demand for plastic bottles continues to grow across numerous products and sectors, including home goods, personal care, beverages, food and pharmaceuticals. With the industry slated to grow 4.6% annually over the next five years, bottling has become one of the fastest growing industry segments in plastics manufacturing. Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) recognized this trend and is adding a new exhibit space - the Bottle Zone - at NPE2018, taking place May 7-11, 2018 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, USA.

Pro2Pac is the UK’s only food & drink packaging event. Together with Waste-Works and IFE, it covers the full circle from farm to fork to fertiliser and fuel - three must-attend events all under one roof.

Beviale Moscow is the first exhibition in Russia covering the complete process chain for the whole beverage industry. It is therefore a highlight event for anyone involved in the Russian industry.

February 16, 2017 will see the thirteenth international "PET 2017" Conference in the Hotel Baltschug Kempinski Moscow. On February 17, the "RPET and Recycled Plastics 2017" Conference will take place at the very same venue.

With over 1.8 million tonnes of collected and recycled PET bottles, the 2015 European PET collection and recycling volumes have increased by 5% compared to 2014. This means that nearly 59% of all bottles placed in the European market have been collected for recycling in 2015, outlining an increase of 2% points compared to the 2014 collection rate.

Visitors of upakovka 2017, January 24-27, are not only in for ranges displayed by some 200 exhibitors from 19 countries but also for the Russian debut of the special innovationparc show, which has already become an established fixture at interpack in Düsseldorf over the past few years. According to the results of the 20th annual International Coastal Clean-Up (ICC) that took place on South African Cape Beaches, glass bottles and pieces and paper bags have taken over from PET bottles and bottle caps as macro pollutants on Cape beaches.

The 2016 edition of the trade show All4Pack Paris, global marketplace for Packaging, Processing, Printing & Handling, has just closed. The show with its 1,500 exhibitors has been attended by 87,815 professionals from 100 countries mainly from the EMEA zone.

Packaging innovation and differentiation continue to be the driving forces behind new product introductions. Those topics, as well as emerging equipment technologies and the environment will be the focal points of The Packaging Conference 2017, February 6-8, Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay, Tampa, FL.

PET Division is making a presentation on ‘PET Development Trends: Niche Resins, Markets and Application Innovations’ on 08th (2nd day) at 11:20 h in the PETnology conference. This presentation will focus on niche developments both on resin front and new markets and applications in India. These developments will have potential learnings for other regions also and can snow-ball into bulk usages for niche PET containers across the globe.

Husky Injection Molding Systems announced that it will return to exhibit at Gulfood Manufacturing (November 7-9, Dubai, United Arab Emirates) for the second year in a row. Husky’s booth (E46, Hall Z1) will showcase its range of packaging and closure solutions for the food and beverage markets that not only maximize productivity, efficiency and part quality, but also help to improve the design and functionality of packaging. In addition, Husky will be highlighting its Multi-Layer Barrier Technology, which offers manufacturers new possibilities to explore PET as a packaging material for products requiring enhanced barrier properties, including for juice, milk, food and carbonated soft drinks.

A good economic state of the international plastics and rubber sector and a positive outlook for the future characterised this year’s K show and made for an excellent mood amongst the 3,285 exhibitors in Düsseldorf. Companies reported a host of new leads, many of which already led to closed deals over the eight days of the trade fair.

This summary captures highlights of two days 2016 Recycled Polyester and PET Packaging Conference which took place September 21th – 23th in Shanghai, China. Despite the polyester recycling industry suffers from the pressure of low crude oil and virgin PET prices with all other consequences out of this 280 participants and exhibition visitors from China and abroad demonstrated their ongoing interest. Like 2015 the issue PET packaging enriched the whole policy group of rPET raw material sources and applications.

Now entering its 13th year, Zenith’s Global Bottled Water Congress, is a three day event incorporating market briefings, conference sessions and a networking dinner during which the 2016 Global Bottled Water Awards will be presented. The event will take place from October 10-12 at the Corinthia Hotel in Prague, Czech Republic.

On June 7 and 8, 2016, Husky Injection Molding Systems hosted a two-day Husky World Tour event providing technology and industry insights at its global hot runner manufacturing facility in Milton, Vermont, USA. From December 15-17 this year the exhibition halls at the Bombay Exhibition Centre will, once again, be the venue for drink technology India (dti). The biennial trade show, now in its sixth incarnation and coinciding with International Packtech India, has developed over the years into an established institution of the entire local drinks industry on the Subcontinent, enjoying a steadily growing number of exhibitors and visitors.

The 30th edition of Chinaplas ended successfully. The fairgrounds in Shanghai were visited by 148.575 visitors which is an increase of approximately 15% compared to last year’s Chinaplas in Guangzhou. 27% of the visitors came from overseas.

From 8 to 10 November, the sector’s regular table at BrauBeviale 2016 in Nuremberg, Germany, will be richly set: covering all aspects of the beverage production process chain, the menu features high-quality raw materials, efficient technologies, effective logistics solutions and creative marketing ideas.

At this year’s food and beverage trade fairs in Algeria and Nigeria, Wild Flavors & Specialty Ingredients (WFSI), a division of Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), demonstrating new concepts for the beverage and confectionary sector, allowing manufacturers to generate further growth.

The PET market has, for several years, been one of the most promising and rapidly developing segments of the Russian plastics industry. It was driven by a combination of growing demand, new projects and expansion of product application areas. However, the impact of the economic crisis has led to the downward revision of plans and curbing of future development. The issue of whether the PET segment will outperform the downturn or will stagnate further will be discussed at Russia’s Twelfth International PET 2016 Conference, Hosted by Inventra in Moscow on 18 February 2016.

Water demand and water consumption is therefore correspondingly high.

The Nigerian agrofood and plastprintpack sectors become ever more attractive for international suppliers. Reasons for this are the efforts of Nigeria to strengthen domestic production with the support of foreign technology and know-how. Many multinational market leaders already opened offices and run production sites. The 2nd agrofood & plastipack Nigeria will take place on April 26 – 28, 2016 at the Landmark Centre on Victoria Island in Lagos.

Poly Talk, associated with Plastics Europe, is the forum to engage with stakeholders in a transparent, forward looking dialogue. Poly Talk 2016 focuses on Marine Litter, a key issue for the image of plastics and corresponding business, which is global and very complex, involving a multitude of actors. Target audience: policy and decision makers (EU, national, regional, UN), NGOs, designers and brand owners, plastics value chain.

The announced tracer workshop taking place on February 24, 2016 at Brussels aims a cross-industry discussion to harmonise the use of tracers into plastic packaging materials. The workshop will focus on PET as a start and intends to create a precedent for other plastics later on. It is organised by Petcore Europe.

At the Saudi Plastics and Petrochem trade fair, January 18-21, 2016 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the exhibits and demonstrations of the Austrian machine builder Engel will revolve around the manufacture of bottle caps, thin-walled packaging, pallets and fittings, as well as consumables for medical and laboratory use.

To keep up with developments on the Indian food and beverage market, the range of products and services at International PackTech India and drink technology India will be joined by a third event, the newly developed FoodPex India. It will focus on the processing and packaging of solid foods of all kinds. In the future the newly created trade fair trio will map the thematic areas of packaging and related processes, beverage technology and liquid food as well as food processing and packaging under one roof.

Shanghai World of Packaging 2015 was successfully concluded on November 20, 2015 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), P.R. China. The 4-day exhibition was organised by Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co., Ltd (MDS), Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd. and the China Center for Food and Drug International Exchange (CCFDIE) and was supported by worldwide packaging and industrial associations and enterprises.

Husky Injection Molding Systems wrapped up its first appearance at Gulfood Manufacturing 2015 (October 27-29, Dubai, United Arab Emirates), one of the biggest food and beverage processing events in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. Husky’s booth showcased its range of PET preform and beverage closure moulding solutions and highlighted how its specific application expertise can support emerging packaging trends in this market.

At Fakuma exhibition Cold Jet introduced their new Plastics Edition machines. The Aero Plastics Edition systems are dry ice cleaning systems, working with the "Sure Flow" pellet technology. According to the company the systems feature an isolated, insulated hopper with advanced agitation, internal pressure regulator, dosing system and coated aluminum or stainless steel rotor. Additional accessories include the XP Performance applicator with dual triggers for drop protection, sealed electrical switches, tough outer shell, two industrial-grade lights and ergonomic design; a rubber blast hose designed to eliminate constrictions and freezing; Sure Flow quick disconnect fittings and variable fragmenting Mern nozzles which have been predefined through the company. Furthermore Cold Jet presented its dry ice cleaning solution using a Plastics Edition i3 Micro Clean, demonstrating the automated cleaning of a PET preform mould.

On 24 November 2015, the annual Petcore Europe Conference will take place in Brussels. In previous years known as the PET Network Day, the conference brings together more than 100 experts and leaders from the whole PET value chain in Europe and beyond as well as representatives from the European institutions. This year, the conference will focus on the four key aspects Sustainability, circular Economy, Innovation and Globalisation. "For everyone involved in the PET value chain it is essential to stay up to date on the latest developments regarding European legislation, trends, innovation and what is happening outside of Europe," outlines Patrick Peuch, Petcore Europe Executive Director.

The annual PET Day has taken place on October 1, 2015 in Artimino, Italy.

At this year’s Gulfood Manufacturing 2015 in Dubai, ADM’s business unit Wild will showcase products based on natural ingredients adapted to specific market requirements. The portfolio for the trade fair includes flavours for carbonated soft drinks, functional still drinks, malt beverages and energy drinks as well as colours from natural sources.

The 2nd NAPET (North America PET Resin Trade, Recycling & Packaging) conference will be held in Napa Valley, California, on 2-4 November, 2015, with an agenda focused on PET imports into the US and its implications on pricing, increase in PET recycling rates as well as emergence of new packaging designs for beverages in the US - especially wines and liquors.

On July 22, 2015, Husky Injection Molding Systems and the National Association for PET Container Resources (NAPCOR) joined together to host a one-day event at Husky’s global headquarters in Bolton, Ontario, Canada. The event was held during the first day of NAPCOR's summer membership meeting and was attended by more than 50 business leaders from throughout North America. In addition to insightful presentations, engaging discussions, and networking opportunities attendees were given access to Husky’s facilities, labs and technology development programs and learned first-hand how the company is committed to developing PET preform injection molding solutions.

Sacmi labelling technology will take part at Scanpack, northern Europe’s biggest international packaging fair that will – following the success of the 2012 edition with 13,000 visitors – be back from 20 to 23 October in the city of Gothenburg, Sweden.
